EU AI Act Compliance for SMEs.
The EU AI Act — Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 — takes full effect on 2 August 2026. ClarAudit helps SMEs assess every AI tool in their organisation, classify each by risk level[Art. 6], and produce the compliance documentation required of deployers[Art. 26] under the AI Act — all in a single session, with citations to specific articles.

The 2 August 2026 Deadline
The EU AI Act entered into force in August 2024 and its obligations apply in phases. The core deadline for most SMEs is 2 August 2026, when the obligations for high-risk AI systems, transparency requirements under Article 50, and penalty provisions take full effect under Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.
Prohibited AI practices under Article 5 — such as workplace emotion recognition, social scoring, and untargeted facial-image scraping — have already been banned since February 2025. If your organisation uses any AI tool that falls under these categories, the obligation to cease use is already live.
For the majority of SMEs acting as deployers, the practical work ahead of August 2026 is threefold: produce an inventory of every AI tool in use, classify each one under the risk framework set out in Article 6 and Annex III, and put in place the transparency disclosures and human-oversight measures required under Article 26. ClarAudit is built to complete all three in a single assessment.
Penalties for non-compliance scale by category. For SMEs, infringements of the high-risk obligations can attract fines of up to 3% of global annual turnover; breaches involving prohibited practices can reach 7%. The tiered penalty structure under Article 99 explicitly takes SME status into account, but does not exempt it.
What ClarAudit Does
A single-session EU AI Act compliance tool designed for deployers. No account needed, no data retained.
Risk Classification (Free)
Add the AI tools your organisation uses — ChatGPT, HubSpot AI, recruitment platforms, and others — and receive a risk classification for each under the AI Act's four-tier framework. Every classification cites the relevant articles (Article 5, Article 6, Annex III, Article 50) so your results are fully traceable.
Compliance Documentation (€349)
Receive six tailored documents: AI System Inventory, Risk Classification Report, Transparency Notice Template, Vendor Compliance Inquiry Letters, Ongoing Monitoring Checklist, and Compliance Certificate — all generated from your specific tools and classifications.
Action Plan
A prioritised action plan with concrete next steps for each tool, organised by urgency. High-risk systems receive detailed deployer obligations under Article 26; limited-risk tools receive transparency requirements under Article 50.
Who Needs This
Any EU-based small or medium-sized enterprise that uses AI-enabled software in its operations is likely a deployer under Article 3 of the AI Act — and has obligations under Article 26.
This includes organisations using tools such as ChatGPT for drafting, HubSpot AI for lead scoring, recruitment screening platforms, customer-facing chatbots, or AI-powered analytics. If your organisation has adopted any of these, a conformity assessment is a practical first step toward compliance.
ClarAudit is built for SMEs that need to understand their AI Act obligations without engaging a consultancy. The assessment takes approximately two hours and covers every AI tool in your organisation.
